Description
ForensIA THOT is the central forensic intelligence platform of the ForensIA project. It brings together information from multiple sources and applies artificial intelligence based on large language models to help Forensic Police (Policía Científica) investigators and analysts identify patterns, link cases and open new lines of investigation, at a time when technology-enabled crime and the volume of available information keep growing.
The platform interoperates with national and international systems and databases, and records every action in a complete, verifiable digital chain of custody. It also includes real-time remote collaboration and Extended Reality (XR) to train specialists in virtual forensic environments. THOT works alongside ForensIA HORUS, which captures information at the crime scene and generates its digital twin. Together they cover the full investigation cycle, from physical trace evidence to actionable knowledge.
THOT is the result of a Pre-Commercial Procurement promoted by the Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI) together with the Directorate-General of the Police, and is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2021-2027. The FORENSIA joint venture, coordinated by HI Iberia together with ETRA Investigación y Desarrollo, Herta and Hard Link Security, is delivering Lot 1 with a budget of €7 229 991.94 (excluding VAT) over 36 months, from September 2025 to September 2028. The project is aligned with the European Forensic Science Area 2030.
