Description

The objective of the Emoternity Project is to develop a virtual assistant based on Virtual Reality (VR), voice assistants and machine learning techniques to reduce the social isolation of elderly subjects in geriatric centers (although it could also be of usefulness in other settings) and the emotional deterioration suffered by this population. With this, and thanks to ICT technologies, the aim of the Project is to obtain a low-cost solution that is easily manageable by end users that prevents or helps to alleviate loneliness and illnesses derived from it (depression, etc.).
For this, the project presents several technological and innovation challenges such as using an interface that is fully usable by people with a significant digital deficiency. For this purpose, the use of virtual voice assistants, emotional analysis with advanced data processing techniques (machine Llarning) and VR have been considered. All this embedded in a low cost system, easily exportable and implantable.

Communication between the platform and the residents will be carried out through a virtual assistant, based on a voice interface (voice assistant), which, in a very intuitive way, will remind the residents the events available on the social network and will tell them when to access the virtual environments. In addition, the virtual assistant will talk with the elderly person to obtain input parameters (voice of the elderly person) for the artificial intelligence module, which using Deep Learning algorithms will determine the user's mood.

Depending on the mood of the users, the virtual assistant will be able to recommend them the access to a virtual environment that improves their emotional situation, using the visualization application.
